Critique is most useful when both sides know what it is for. When you post your work
- Share a good, well-lit photo, plus a detail shot if texture matters.
- Say what you were aiming for, what stage the work is at, and what kind of feedback you want: composition, colour, technique, or whether the idea comes across.
- Only post work that is your own. When you give critique
- Be specific. "The eye goes straight to the bright corner and stays there" helps; "I like it" or "not for me" does not.
- Start with what works, then describe what you see and its effect, then suggest rather than prescribe.
- Separate taste from craft. You can respect a well-made work in a style you would never choose.
- Be kind. There is a person on the other side who cared enough to share. Disrespectful replies will be removed, in line with section 7 of the Terms of Service. Ready to share something? Start a new topic in this category.
